We finished discussions for the project on Monday (Nov. 8) and Wednesday (Nov. 10) this week delegating final task and putting the finishing touches on the project. We completed our group evaluations and decided to discuss the final project once more with changes via email - a deadline set for Thursday night.

Hey guys,
Normally we would be having a skype meeting tonight or tomorrow night, but I haven't heard from ya'll. Any progress or updates? Should we skip the meeting until maybe Saturday or Sunday? I was thinking that maybe we should just use MSU's budget and all print it out, then go item by item looking for unnecessary expenditures. After playing with creating our own budget, it seems almost easier to use one that already has numbers. Thoughts?

I have been tied up with a test in another class. After this afternoon - I should have a draft of my "green portion" this evening. I am open to whatever.
Thanks,
Cindy

I can do tonight or Friday night (8PST/10Central) or anytime Saturday or Sunday. We can also push 'til next week if we all get some actual work done this week.
If ya'll can send me the paragraphs as soon as you get them done that will help. I would say each person should type out a list of all the cuts (I highlighted my budget) and why they can be cut (like a sentence or two per cut) and shoot them to me then I can put them all together and send them back to everyone.
Then maybe on Monday we can Skype and discuss them and talk about the group evaluation part (plan on a longer discussion). Let me know if this works or if you have any better ideas.
Thanks,
Dana

Friday, or the weekend is good with me if we skype this week. I have been busy with my other classes, but I will have some free time tomorrow and I will try to do the bulk of my work then. Also, if you need someone to type up in Excel I can do that. There is some way to integrate it into Word I think.

ok I am lost You asked for a sentence or two on each of the budget cuts that was proposed right? I am missing the budget? what paragraph do you need? I am panicking here lol

Ha ha! You aren't lost, I probably just wasn't clear! I am a little frazzled today. I have about 200 plates spinning! I was saying that we can postpone our skype until Monday and in the mean time we can each come up with our own list of cuts - and write a sentence or two on why it should be cut. Then just email it to everyone when we have a little list. I will compile them all onto one document and then on Monday or whenever we will have something to discuss. Is that clearer?
Best,
Dana

We have to have a blog post by 11/7/2010. Do we need to postpone our Skype meeting until Monday?
Thanks,
Cindy

I can post a blog no problem in time for the 11/7 deadline, I still don't know if people want to wait until Monday. I think Monday will work best that way everyone can use the weekend to get some stuff done.
By the way, what budgets are we all using? I am looking at the MSU's Summary of Revenue and Expenditures.

Here is the blog that should satisfy our Nov 7 requirement. The deadline is creeping up.

Sorry to email bomb ya'll but I have been working on our project tonight and I am finding that I need more help from ya'll. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. Attached is the project that I have so far. I highlighted the parts where I need specific help. This is supposed to be a group effort so we have to be sure and all pitch in. I know in group projects its easy to let others take the lead, but I'm sinking here.
If you all could contribute and save the file as the same name with your initials at the end (or your name), it would be much easier for us to get ahead on it. Remember it is due next week so our time is running out. After reviewing the assignment more and more it seems that the actual budget and numbers is not as important as the whole process of group problem solving. I just want to make sure that we are all working together and not wasting time on things that aren't required.
Best,
Dana

I believe we should continue on with MSU's budget. It is what we have been looking at up to this point and I don't think with the deadline creeping up so quickly we should deviate.
Thoughts?

I filled in what I could think of off top of my head

Yes that is what I said in my email. Did you have a chance to read the project I sent out?
show details 8:06 PM (19 hours ago)
Thanks Ronald, but I'm afraid I need a bit more than that. Did you have anything to add from your research? I believe you mentioned a few cuts earlier as well, it isn't too early to put those along with their explanation and savings in. We also need references that can be implemented into the report - any luck with those? Hopefully Ruth and Cindy have some time to get to it soon. I was hoping we'd have more done by now.

Attached is my portion related to "greening" the budget. Dana, I could not figure out how to import this into your original document. Sorry!

I was just going to let you guys know that I have been working on my parts of the report and I should have them finished by this afternoon. Also I am going to cite the website I used. Do you also want me to cite the budget website. The summaries are PDF so I don't know if they can be cited. Are we using MLA? Also should we post these emails to are current blog? I can post them today in the comment section if yall need me too?
Thanks,
Ruthi

Also, have we decided which budget we are using?
show details 11:19 AM (4 hours ago)
Ok, I have filled in my input areas. However, you all may think that some of the information goes in different sections (I was not exactly sure where it should go).
Also, what chart are we needing in the appendix? And are we still using the smaller scale budget?
I think after Cindy's Green Budget Information is added we will have a good chunk of it filled out. I will be able to work on this project all weekend so if there is anything I can do to help please tell me.
I was trying to make a pie chart to show where the cuts are being made but getting the percentages off everything is becoming a bit difficult. I can make an estimated chart using the 1,000,000$ budget we created though.
Thanks,
Ruth

Thank you Cindy,
I can easily put that into the document. I have a few questions: 1)do you have any sources? 2) did you run across any information regarding specifically how much can be saved (like a percentage)? I think it would help us with our cuts if we had some numbers in addition to the explanation?
Thanks,
Dana

GREAT!!!!! Yes, please site the website. We are using MLA I believe. I can post the emails no problem into their own blog, that may be easier than the comments section. As far as the budget goes, I think that we have pretty much decided just to stick with the MSU budget. That way we can be sure that our numbers are accurate.
Thanks,
Dana
